Storytelling Day at The University Centre

Yeovil Federation – Storytelling Day at The University Centre – Thursday 2nd July 2009

53 youngsters from Yeovil Federation schools were excited to join a Storytelling Day as part of the Federation’s Gifted and Talented programme. A very successful day was held  at the University Centre for Year 5/6 youngsters. Pupils from Barwick and Stoford Primary School , Birchfield Primary School , Chilthorne Domer Primary School , East Coker Primary School, Grass Royal Junior School , Holy Trinity Primary School , Milford Junior School and Preston Primary School attended the course. The youngsters were joined by Adrian Beckingham – The Man from Story Mountain – who presented his workshop in a tepee. The course was organised by Sandy Braddick, English Lecturer at the University Centre and a team of under-graduates at the Centre led the workshops.

Yeovil Federation is a partnership of 20 schools in Yeovil, Yeovil College and the Yeovil Centre. The Federation is working to improve the learning and achievement for students and learners in the town, with the aim of improving standards of attainment, combined with high quality training and the sharing of best practice. This will enable the young people in Yeovil to have the best start in life and to have high aspirations. The Federation is supported by a Steering Group, which is comprised of Head teachers representing all sectors of education across the town and the Principal of Yeovil College.
