Fine Art Graduation Show
UCY GRADUATES INNOVATIVE EXHIBIT!
University Centre Yeovil (UCY) Fine Art students have being displaying there final projects at the Yeovil Innovation centre. The display of graduate art between Tuesday the 22 and Thursday 24 June marked the end of the students time studying at the UCY and was a chance for the students to display their work in bright contemporary space.
The Yeovil Innovation Centre is located in a former warehouse which has been sympathetically converted into a state-of-the-art business centre providing an ideal location for innovative businesses - from start-ups to established companies. The space is very light and contemporary and provides a perfect space for an Art exhibition.
All exhibits are work produced by students of the UCY Fine Art foundation degree. The foundation degree in Fine Art is aimed at those who wish to pursue careers in Contemporary Fine Art Practice which may include installation, digital media and video or more traditional media of painting, print making and photography, or a combination of any of these mediums with students being encouraged to develop their own practice. The work on display is the culmination of three months of hard work for the students final project.
Student Julia Harris, Trent near Sherborne, who’s project “Natures morphing and mans influence in nature” is on display said “it is exciting to see our work hung in such a great open space” Wendy Chapman, Yeovil, who’s pieces of social study can also be seen on display added “this feels like the end of an era, and it is sad that the course is coming to an end, it has been a fantastic course with great support from the centre and the staff”.
Many of the students completing the course plan to progress onto the honours top up and then hope to develop their own workspaces and galleries, with some planning to take up teaching.
Course manager Diana Pilcher said “ this course is perfect for those who wish to be supported in the development of their Fine Art practice and offers students a means to develop there future in the Fine Art community and progress into a Fine Art career”.
