Design & Media Courses

Course Information

This course combines two important disciplines, creative design and the emerging field of sustainability.  Students are introduced to a variety of creative design and sustainable design tools and knowledge to enable individual creative development within a wide range of multi-disciplinary design professions such as graphic design, packaging design, advertising, information design and interaction design.

Who is this course for?
Creative students, but with their feet on the ground. All will have a passion for design, and most will have progressed from a pre-degree art and design course, such as a National Diploma in Graphic Design or General Art & Design Foundation Diploma Art course, or A Levels.

How will I be taught?
Lectures, seminars, tutorials, demonstrations etc.

How will I be assessed?
The majority of problem-based projects, assignment work and essays are continuously assessed, with an average of two assignments per unit.

Where could this course lead?
This Foundation degree can lead onto the BA (Hons) Sustainable Graphics & Packaging Design at the UCY or an appropriate degree at other institutes.  It also equips graduates with the skills to enter jobs such as graphic design, advertising, publishing, branding, packaging, web design and media.  Our students have regularly won Gold and Silver educational-institution prizes at the Institute of Packaging Student ‘Starpack’ Awards.
