BA (Hons) Sustainable Graphics and Packaging Design - Top Up

The designer’s role is key, as decisions made during the design process
can dramatically reduce environmental and social impact and contribute positively to a sustainable future. This unique course will enable you to study all aspects of design from a sustainable perspective, providing you with the skills to enter the high demand market of sustainable design.
There is a need for a special type of designer with a specific capability in understanding the complex environmental issues at the heart of the debate, coupled with an ability to apply appropriate knowledge in design practice.

Who is this course for?
Designers with a particular interest in creative design and the broader issues of environmental impact. This (top-up) course is designed principally to enable designers in education and business to explore, challenge and apply the latest thinking for sustainable design. It will prepare students who wish to qualify as progressive designers with a competitive edge, for the vast array of opportunities available in a multi-disciplinary, multi-industry profession.


What will I study?

This course will concentrate on the future vision of creative design and ecology, and will focus on sustainable materials, sustainable supply chains and life cycles, cradle to cradle thinking, risk and brand reputation, transformation for sustainability, the business case for sustainability and managing complexity. It will encourage innovation and explore the interface between design, human beings and the consumer mindset. The balance, conflict and convergence of these factors will be considered to enable potential holistic solutions.
