Case Study

Carolyn Curtis
What did you do before coming to the UCY?
I
was at Yeovil College for HND Business and at Gryphon School before
that. I was very much a local girl and had never wanted to do Higher
Education. During my HND I worked Part Time all the way through and
have progressed with the same employer. Once I started studying - I
loved it and loved the course work – so I decided to progress to the BA
Business and Management".
What do you do now?
I'm an Assistant Financial Controller.
What do you most like about your course?
The
small groups, I could talk to the tutor and get advice, I wouldn't have
got as much help in larger groups. The best module on my course was
Strategic Management. It pulled everything together and I began
looking at challenges in normal life as a business strategy.
What have you found most challenging during your course?
Learning
Tolerance which helped me grow as a person. It taught me to manage
myself around other people – which has helped me in my work.
What would you say to potential students?
It's
worth it because of the amount of support the lecturers give you and
because of the sense of achievement and personal development that you
feel at the end.
