AAT Level 2 certificate in Accounting
This is a professional course for students who wish to obtain a foundation level Accounting qualification. This is a nationally recognised qualification, which is sponsored by the three main accountancy bodies.
Who is this course for?
It is for school leavers who wish to pursue a career in Accountancy, students who are looking to retrain in accountancy or students who have practical accounting experience but no formal accountancy qualifications. It is essential that students obtain practical accounting experience.
What will I study?
There are five Learning and Assessment Areas (LAA):
- Basic Accounting 1
- Basic Accounting 2
- Basic Costing
- Computerised Accounting
- Working Effectively in Accounting & Finance
How will I be taught?
There are lectures during which students are actively encouraged to participate and to contribute using their own accounting knowledge and work experience.
How will I be assessed?
In July 2010, the AAT switched from a paper-based examination system to a computer-based system. All students sit their examinations on a computer.
Where could this course lead?
Having successfully completed the Level 2 qualification, the natural progression is to the Level 3 Diploma in Accounting.
This course is open entry, but students must be confident in English and Mathematics. An inteview with the Course Manager is required.
