HNC Mechanical Engineering
This 8 unit award provides an appropriate level of education for a range of technical and management careers in Engineering. It also provides specialist studies which are directly relevant to job roles in which learners are currently working or in which they intend to seek employment.
Who is this course for?
This course is for Engineers wanting to develop their skills at HE level and to give additional technical and management skills to support career progression.
What will I study?
You will study a range of subjects including Analytical Methods, Engineering Science, Computer Aided Design and Manufacture, Mechanical Principles and Materials Engineering. In the second year you will also undertake a Project unit where you will be able to develop a project using your own individual expertise, and the skills you have developed through the course.
How will I be taught?
A typical day consists of a total of 5 sessions, with opportunities in the day for private directed study. You will also have access to our well equipped learning resource centre to support your studies.
How will I be assessed?
All units are internally assessed through a series of assignments developed to allow you to meet the criteria set by Edexcel. The Pass criteria set the skills you must have for each unit, and the Merit and Distinction criteria allow you to show higher level skills such as applying appropriate strategies for solutions and critical evaluation.
Where could this course lead?
Prgoression is on to Higher Technical occupations or to an HND or Degree course.
