BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing

This course enable you to gain an academic qualification as well as a Registered Nursing (RN) Professional Qualification in Adult Nursing.

We will help you become a competent, knowledgeable nurse able to deliver a high standard of effective care in a rapidly changing healthcare sector. The course is designed to prepare you to meet the needs of the patient/client and their family within a safe environment. Patients/clients are viewed as unique individuals with the right to receive health and nursing care of the highest quality based on the best research available.

Most students on nursing courses will have their fees paid by the NHS Students’ Grant Unit. Additionally, there are bursaries available.  Courses last for three years, and must be completed within five years of starting. The course normally consists of both theory and practice blocks.

What will I study?
This challanging course focuses on the individual and their well-being. Your career will bring you into contact with a variety of people at different stages of life, and you will need to be able to address the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs that their condition may generate, including pressures on family and friends. As an adult nurse, you will work as part of an inter-professional team to promote preventative measures to the people in your care. This course will help you become adept at doing so in a variety of clinical settings.  The course is 50% practice-based, allowing you to develop your skills in care settings while under the supervision of expert role models.

Where could this course lead?
Once you have graduated from this course you will find a range of career opportunities open up for you within the NHS and in the independent sector. You will be able to work in a variety of settings including traditional hospital, emergency or community environments.

Entry Requirements

Minimum of seven GCSEs (grades A-C) including Maths and English. Science recommended.  Equivalent qualifications including Key Skills would be considered.
