NVQ4 Childrens Care, Learning and Development
The Level 4 CCLD is for professionals working in childcare. It recognises your specialist learning and helps you develop your career.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for those working as a centre manager, senior practitioner, childminding co-ordinator or as a pre-school adviser with management or supervisory responsibility for other staff and may have overall responsibility for the services provided.
What will I study?
The course consists of two parts, each of which requires the completion of mandatory units and a 15-credit unit at the same level.
Part one is offered at Level 4 and consists of:
You will study four compulsory units and five optional units.
The compulsory units are:
- Establish and Develop Working Relationships
- Support Policies, Procedures and Practice to safeguard Children and Ensure their Inclusion in Well-being
- Support Programmes for the Promotion of Children’s Development
- Reflect on, Review and Develop Own Practice
- You must complete all nine units to achieve the full certificate.
How will I be taught?
The delivery consists of two-hour long, weekly workshops, where you will participate in group discussions, discuss case studies, carry out research and be able to present your findings to your peers.
How will I be assessed?
You will be allocated a vocationally qualified assessor, who will observe you in the workplace and guide you through the award during allocated, individual assessment time
Where will the course lead?
Students can progress to further training courses, such as the CACHE Level 4 Certificate in Managing Quality Standards in Children’s Services or a higher level qualification, such as the Foundation degree in Early Years offered by the UCY.
Entry Requirements
You must have a level 3 qualification in Early Years and be working in a managerial role within a childcare placement
