Qualifications
Where does it all lead?
UCY qualifications are at level 4. They are designed to lead to jobs at a managerial level or to give the opportunity to go on to a professional qualification, postgraduate diploma, masters degree, PhD or NVQ Level 5.
What is a Foundation degree?
A Foundation degree is a modern, higher education (university-level) qualification designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge employers are looking for now and in the future. It is designed and developed in partnership with employers. It is a flexible and accessible qualification, valued by students and employers alike.
As a mature student you can apply for a Foundation degree even if you don't have formal qualifications. As long as you have the desire and ability to succeed you will be considered. What makes a Foundation degree different is that it enables you to
earn and learn at the same time. Whatever your personal circumstances, the flexibility of this qualification means that there is a course suitable for you.
It also opens up opportunities to gain professional recognition and other higher level qualifications. There should be at least one route to a suitable Honours degree after successfully achieving the Foundation degree. This can take as little as one year of further full-time study. You can find out more about Foundation degrees at: www.foundationdegree.org.uk or www.fdf.ac.uk
Our facilities help to make studying easier
UCY students benefit from a small, friendly university style environment which allows us to offer a higher level of student support.
Our facilities include an Open Access resource area which is well equipped with computers and private study space. Our librarian is available for assistance with locating books and journals for your research. Alongside is a café and seating area which provides hot and cold snacks throughout the day.
Students at the UCY have access to the facilities at Yeovil College, including a gym, beauty rooms, hair salon, restaurant and library. Additionally, students also have access to facilities at Bournemouth University. The UCY site is accessible to all learners, as are most areas on the Yeovil College Campus.
