Course Information
This course is nationally recognised and is focused directly upon your individual needs as a teacher and practitioner. The course has a very clear practice orientation. Students learn the fundamentals of teaching in their working environment, and the theory and practice of teaching are not separated from one another. You will be taught by experienced, highly-skilled teacher-practitioners. In addition to the teaching you will require a qualified teacher in your workplace to act as a subject specialist mentor.

This well-established prestigious course is a professional teaching qualification suitable for lecturers, trainers and instructors employed in lifelong learning education and training services.
What will I study?
You will acquire the practical teaching skills required to work in the post-compulsory (14+) and further education (FE) sector. You will gain an understanding of the broad context of adult and further education. Furthermore, you will be encouraged to develop a range of analytical and evaluative skills, which are an essential and integral part of what it means to be a teacher.

How will I be taught?
Lectures and seminars are for three hours per week. You will be expected to have arranged at least six hours per week teaching of your own before enrolling on the course. Your teaching will be observed by your tutor as part of your course.
Candidates studying full time will cover the first and second year concurrently.
How will I be assessed?
Assessments take place in the form of portfolios of evidence to cover schemes of work for your own teaching, plus a series of assignments throughout the course which include group and individual presentations as well as more formal essays.
Where could this course lead?
Successful candidates on this course will be awarded a Level 6 qualification and will be entitled to apply for registration as a Full Teacher in the Learning & Skills Sector (QTLS) with the Lifelong Learning UK Sector Skills Council.
