Students Advise Pittards

Students from the University Centre Yeovil (UCY) were recently presented prize money at Pittards for their winning suggestions on how to develop the company's 'Learning Centre',  a collaborative venture in partnership with Community 'Union for Life', Transport and General workers union, Yeovil College and the TUC.

The winning students, all studying the Foundation degree in Business & Management, presented Marketing Plans on how the Learning Centre could be further developed and sustain growth. Making the presentation, Terry Meakin of Community Union for Life said he was "Impressed with the range of high quality and refreshingly new ideas". Mr Meakin presented prize cheques to the two groups that had most impressed the panel of judges as well as runner-up prizes to all of the entrants.

Maureen Wincott, UCY lecturer, thanked everybody involved, saying "we couldn't have done it without the support of the company; it's been a fantastic opportunity for the students to work on a live project that is so valued by the company and it's employees".

The ideas have been taken on board by the company and will help them make important decisions on the relaunch of the Learning Centre later this year.
