Yeovil Degree Students Seek Historical Change

Students Seek Historical Change group

A group of thirteen students from the University Centre Yeovil (UCY) visited Wittenberg Lepzig in Germany, last month as part of their BA Hons English and History course at the UCY, visiting historical landmarks such as the Berlin Wall.

The focus of the trip to Germany was to allow students to see how the Reformation and the Cold War had visibly affected the world's history, and fitted closely with content studied on the degree course offered at the UCY campus on Preston Road, Yeovil.

Richard Batten, a third year student on the course, said "My most beneficial experience of the trip was that my preconceptions of Germany have been changed by viewing it at first hand with my own eyes."

Tour Leader, Reverend David Gent, was one of four staff that accompanied the students. Reverend Gent was particularly enthusiastic about the experience, saying "the trip was a fantastic experience. It was amazing to be able to walk through the Brandenburg Gate, touch the Berlin Wall and see the church where Luther started the reformation"
